Altrincham and Sale West is a parliamentary constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. It was created in 1997 largely from Altrincham and Sale, and has been held since then by the Conservative Graham Brady, the Chairman of the backbench 1922 Committee since 2010.

The constituency is one of three covering the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford. It covers the south of the borough, covering the town of Altrincham and the west of Sale. It comprises the Altrincham, Bowdon, Broadheath, Hale, Mersey St. Mary's, St. Martin's, Timperley and Village wards of Trafford council.
The constituency includes the most expensive residential streets outside of South-East England.[2] Despite this wealth, Altrincham and Sale West remains ethnically diverse; as its most affluent wards are home to a significant Jewish community [3] and smaller Muslim communities.[4][5] There are also several Black British premiership footballers and millionaire British Asian businesswomen, like the "curry queen" Nighat Awan, who live in the constituency.[6]
Overall, Trafford was ranked 3rd out of all of the Local Education Authorities in National Curriculum assessment performance in 2007.[7] Absences from Trafford secondary schools in 2006–07, authorised and unauthorised, were 5.6% and 0.8% respectively, both lower than the national average (6.4% and 1.4%).[8] From the 2007 GCSE results, the Trafford LEA was ranked 5th out of 148 in the country – and first in Greater Manchester and the North West – based on the percentage of pupils attaining at least 5 A*–C grades at GCSE including maths and English (60.8% compared with the national average of 46.7%), this is widely thought to be because of the Grammar School system which is mainly held in South Trafford and is a key issue that Graham Brady has fought for as he is a believer in the system.[9]
Following their review of parliamentary representation in Greater Manchester, the Boundary Commission for England has made minor alterations to the existing Altrincham and Sale West seat, with the creation of a seat with the following electoral wards:
